Windows 8 Tuition

Need help finding those hidden functions in Windows 8 ?  

          Have you upgraded yet to Windows 8.1 ?

Beginners can start here, but if you are already familiar with the basics then now is the time to learn how to make life easier by recognising some of the less obvious features of Windows 8, and learning some essential shortcuts.

Our hands-on tuition sessions are conducted with you operating the mouse and keyboard so that you know exactly what is going on at all times. 

For those of you making a transition from the older more familiar Windows desktop, we explain: 

• How the new start screen and tiles work

• How to find the "missing" start  and power buttons

• Some simple adjustments to make life easier

• Some new and useful keyboard shortcuts

• Introduction to some Apps that you will find useful

• How to set up and use Windows 8 Mail

• ... and more

For complete beginners who are using a computer for the first time we look at these main areas:

• 1. Introduction to Windows, and using the keyboard, mouse, icons and windows

  2. Internet, the World Wide Web and electronic mail

  3. Files and Folders - where things are stored

  4. Taking Charge - recognising and managing indicators and messages

  5. Managing photos and your camera

  6. Maintenance and computer settings

  7. Optional modules - e.g. Security, Skype, Word Processing, Problem Solving.

Many other aspects can be covered on request. For those who are interested, we can move on to more advanced levels, such as file management, word processing or even website design. Refer also to our Windows 7 programme if that is more appropriate for you.
