Paul Thurrott's electronic book Windows 8.1 is available for less than two pounds. Paul is a leading autohity on Windows systems and can be relied on to treat the subject very thoroughly.

Apple Mac and iTunes

Apple's website has a wide range of guidance and help topics. You may find the following sections useful: OSX Leopard, OSX Lion and  iTunes .

BBC - tutorials and exercises

Short, and very clearly presented, Webwise online courses from the BBC cover such things as Computing and Internet basics.
